Description of the video:
Thank you so much for your interest in our graduate programs here at the Indiana University School of Public Health, Bloomington.
We got your request for information and we'll be in touch soon. But if you're ready to move on to the next step, we have a two step application process and I will go ahead and tell you the details.
Your first step is to submit the SOPHAS application, which is a common application for all accredited Schools of Public Health. Typically, this application takes around an hour to complete, and we recommend starting it at least a month in advance of your application deadline so that you'll have time to send transcripts, and so your recommenders will have time to respond.
Within the SOPHAS application, you'll request and upload all supplemental materials including your three letters of recommendation, your resume, official transcripts, and your statement of purpose. And each academic program sets its own prompt for the statement of purpose, and you'll be able to see that prompt within the application.
For international students, we may require a WES evaluation or an English Language Proficiency exam. And we encourage all applicants to reach out to us if they have any questions about requirements.
And then after the SOPHAS application is complete, your second step is to complete the IU graduate school application. This application is a lot shorter. Usually it only takes five or ten minutes to complete, and it's also free.
Once both applications are complete and all supplemental materials are received, your application will then be sent on to the admissions committee for review, and review timelines vary by program. For master's degrees and graduate certificates, most decisions are made within about five weeks. And for Ph.D. programs, most decisions are made within about 12 weeks. But the timeline really varies for Ph.D.
All right, the admissions team will be in touch with you as you work on your application. We'll notify you of updates, like missing materials and when your application goes under review. But in the meantime, we encourage you to reach out to us directly with any questions. You can reach us at sphgrad@iu.edu. We look forward to hearing from you and reviewing your application soon.
