Application Deadlines for the Current Academic Year

Please note that application in SOPHAS (our graduate application portal) are not reviewed from the beginning of May until the second week in August. Applications for the next academic year may be submitted once the system reopens in August.

Tuition and Fees

All online graduate courses have an additional $69 per credit hour (not included in the tuition cost) as part of IU's distance education fee structure. 

Tuition rates for persons currently living in the Bloomington area or enrolled in a residential program through the Bloomington campus will be based on residency.

How to Apply

Applying to one of our online programs is easy. Applications are submitted through SOPHAS - the centralized application service for CEPH-accredited schools and programs of public health. Please select your program from the list below to learn more about the application process.

Applications to our Master’s program are submitted through SOPHAS - the centralized application service for CEPH-accredited schools and programs of public health. Before application review, all online MS and MPH program applicants must pay the required SOPHAS fees. 

Note:  SOPHAS closes every summer from the beginning of May until the second week in August. Applications for the next academic year may be submitted once the system reopens in August.

Step 2 – Complete your SOPHAS application

Please contact SOPHAS customer service if you require assistance with your SOPHAS application.  SOPHAS representatives are happy to answer questions pertaining to the SOPHAS application process and your SOPHAS application specifically. However, review the Instructions and FAQ prior to contacting our staff, as many common questions are answered within these instructions.

Step 4 - After acceptance into a program complete the Indiana University Supplemental Application.

In the drop-down box for "Academic Program" select  Public Health-Bloomington Masters for master's degree program admission.

Requirements

When contacting SOPHAS customer service via phone or e-mail, please provide the following: your full name, SOPHAS ID number located at the top of your SOPHAS application, and a detailed description of your question or situation. Allow up to 3 business days for SOPHAS to respond to your inquiry.

Step 5 – Register for your certificate classes

Upon acceptance to the certificate program, your next step is to register for classes by completing the online distance education (DE) class registration request form.

Once you have completed the class registration request form we will promptly process your request. Please expect to receive an email containing information on your next steps, including getting an IU ID, an email account, and information about contacting your course instructors. Please feel free to contact our office (mphd@indiana.edu) with any questions regarding admission and registration.
